大衛因怕基士的兒子掃羅、躲在洗革拉的時候、有勇士到他那裡幫助他打仗。

These were the men who came to David at Ziklag, while he was banished from the presence of Saul son of Kish (they were among the warriors who helped him in battle;

他們善於拉弓、能用左右兩手甩石射箭．都是便雅憫人掃羅的族弟兄。

they were armed with bows and were able to shoot arrows or to sling stones right-handed or left-handed; they were kinsmen of Saul from the tribe of Benjamin):

為首的是亞希以謝．其次是約阿施、都是基比亞人示瑪的兒子．還有亞斯瑪威的兒子耶薛、和毘力．又有比拉迦、並亞拿突人耶戶、

Ahiezer their chief and Joash the sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite; Jeziel and Pelet the sons of Azmaveth; Beracah, Jehu the Anathothite,

基遍人以實買雅、他在三十人中是勇士管理他們、且有耶利米、雅哈悉、約哈難、和基得拉人約撒拔、

and Ishmaiah the Gibeonite, a mighty man among the Thirty, who was a leader of the Thirty; Jeremiah, Jahaziel, Johanan, Jozabad the Gederathite,

Some Gadites defected to David at his stronghold in the desert. They were brave warriors, ready for battle and able to handle the shield and spear. Their faces were the faces of lions, and they were as swift as gazelles in the mountains.

These Gadites were army commanders; the least was a match for a hundred, and the greatest for a thousand.

正月、約但河水漲過兩岸的時候、他們過河、使一切住平原的人、東奔西逃。

It was they who crossed the Jordan in the first month when it was overflowing all its banks, and they put to flight everyone living in the valleys, to the east and to the west.

又有便雅憫和猶大人到山寨大衛那裡。

Other Benjamites and some men from Judah also came to David in his stronghold.

大衛出去迎接他們、對他們說、你們若是和和平平地來幫助我、我心就與你們相契．你們若是將我這無罪的人賣在敵人手裡、願我們列祖的　神察看責罰。

David went out to meet them and said to them, "If you have come to me in peace, to help me, I am ready to have you unite with me. But if you have come to betray me to my enemies when my hands are free from violence, may the God of our fathers see it and judge you."

那時　神的靈感動那三十個勇士的首領亞瑪撒、他就說、大衛阿、我們是歸於你的、耶西的兒子阿、我們是幫助你的．願你平平安安、願幫助你的、也都平安．因為你的　神幫助你。大衛就收留他們、立他們作軍長。

Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, chief of the Thirty, and he said: "We are yours, O David! We are with you, O son of Jesse! Success, success to you, and success to those who help you, for your God will help you." So David received them and made them leaders of his raiding bands.

大衛從前與非利士人同去、要與掃羅爭戰．有些瑪拿西人來投奔大衛、他們卻沒有幫助非利士人．因為非利士人的首領、商議打發他們回去、說、恐怕大衛拿我們的首級、歸降他的主人掃羅。

Some of the men of Manasseh defected to David when he went with the Philistines to fight against Saul. (He and his men did not help the Philistines because, after consultation, their rulers sent him away. They said, "It will cost us our heads if he deserts to his master Saul.")

大衛往洗革拉去的時候、有瑪拿西人的千夫長押拿、約撒拔、耶疊、米迦勒、約撒拔、以利戶、洗勒太都來投奔他。

When David went to Ziklag, these were the men of Manasseh who defected to him: Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu and Zillethai, leaders of units of a thousand in Manasseh.

這些人幫助大衛攻擊群賊．他們都是大能的勇士、且作軍長。

They helped David against raiding bands, for all of them were brave warriors, and they were commanders in his army.

那時、天天有人來幫助大衛、以致成了大軍、如　神的軍一樣。

Day after day men came to help David, until he had a great army, like the army of God.

豫備打仗的兵來到希伯崙見大衛、要照著耶和華的話、將掃羅的國位歸與大衛、他們的數目如下．

These are the numbers of the men armed for battle who came to David at Hebron to turn Saul's kingdom over to him, as the LORD had said:

猶大支派、拿盾牌和槍豫備打仗的、有六千八百人。

men of Judah, carrying shield and spear--6,800 armed for battle;

西緬支派、能上陣大能的勇士、有七千一百人。

men of Simeon, warriors ready for battle--7,100;

利未支派有四千六百人。

耶何耶大是亞倫家的首領．跟從他的有三千七百人．

including Jehoiada, leader of the family of Aaron, with 3,700 men,

還有少年大能的勇士撒督．同著他的有族長二十二人。

and Zadok, a brave young warrior, with 22 officers from his family;

便雅憫支派、掃羅的族弟兄、也有三千人、他們向來大半歸順掃羅家。

men of Benjamin, Saul's kinsmen--3,000, most of whom had remained loyal to Saul's house until then;

以法蓮支派、大能的勇士、在本族著名的有二萬零八百人。

men of Ephraim, brave warriors, famous in their own clans--20,800;

瑪拿西半支派、冊上有名的共一萬八千人、都來立大衛作王。

men of half the tribe of Manasseh, designated by name to come and make David king--18,000;

以薩迦支派、有二百族長、都通達時務、知道以色列人所當行的、他們族弟兄都聽從他們的命令。

men of Issachar, who understood the times and knew what Israel should do--200 chiefs, with all their relatives under their command;

西布倫支派、能上陣、用各樣兵器打仗、行伍整齊、不生二心的、有五萬人。

men of Zebulun, experienced soldiers prepared for battle with every type of weapon, to help David with undivided loyalty--50,000;

拿弗他利支派、有一千軍長、跟從他們拿盾牌和槍的、有三萬七千人。

men of Naphtali--1,000 officers, together with 37,000 men carrying shields and spears;

但支派、能擺陣的有二萬八千六百人。

men of Dan, ready for battle--28,600;

亞設支派、能上陣打仗的有四萬人。

men of Asher, experienced soldiers prepared for battle--40,000;

約但河東的流便支派、迦得支派、瑪拿西半支派、拿著各樣兵器打仗的有十二萬人。

and from east of the Jordan, men of Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh, armed with every type of weapon--120,000.

以上都是能守行伍的戰士、他們都誠心來到希伯崙、要立大衛作以色列的王．以色列其餘的人也都一心要立大衛作王。

All these were fighting men who volunteered to serve in the ranks. They came to Hebron fully determined to make David king over all Israel. All the rest of the Israelites were also of one mind to make David king.

他們在那裡三日、與大衛一同喫喝．因為他們的族弟兄給他們豫備了。

The men spent three days there with David, eating and drinking, for their families had supplied provisions for them.

靠近他們的人、以及以薩迦、西布倫、拿弗他利人、將許多麵餅、無花果餅、乾葡萄、酒、油、用驢、駱駝、騾子、牛、馱來、又帶了許多的牛和羊來．因為以色列人甚是歡樂。

Also, their neighbors from as far away as Issachar, Zebulun and Naphtali came bringing food on donkeys, camels, mules and oxen. There were plentiful supplies of flour, fig cakes, raisin cakes, wine, oil, cattle and sheep, for there was joy in Israel.
