3 恶人来,藐视随来。羞耻到,辱骂同到。 When wickedness comes, so does contempt, and with shame comes disgrace. |
4 人口中的言语,如同深水。智慧的泉源,好像涌流的河水。 The words of a man's mouth are deep waters, but the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook. |
5 瞻徇恶人的情面,偏断义人的案件,都为不善。 It is not good to be partial to the wicked or to deprive the innocent of justice. |
6 愚昧人张嘴启争端,开口招鞭打。 A fool's lips bring him strife, and his mouth invites a beating. |
7 愚昧人的口,自取败坏。他的嘴,是他生命的网罗。 A fool's mouth is his undoing, and his lips are a snare to his soul. |
8 传舌人的言语,如同美食,深入人的心腹。 The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man's inmost parts. |
9 作工懈怠的,与浪费人为弟兄。 One who is slack in his work is brother to one who destroys. |
10 耶和华的名,是坚固台。义人奔入,便得安稳。 The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. |
11 富足人的财物,是他的坚城,在他心想,犹如高墙。 The wealth of the rich is their fortified city; they imagine it an unscalable wall. |
12 败坏之先,人心骄傲。尊荣以前,必有谦卑。 Before his downfall a man's heart is proud, but humility comes before honor. |
13 未曾听完先回答的,便是他的愚昧,和羞辱。 He who answers before listening--that is his folly and his shame. |
14 人有疾病,心能忍耐。心灵忧伤,谁能承当呢? A man's spirit sustains him in sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear? |
15 聪明人的心得知识。智慧人的耳求知识。 The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge; the ears of the wise seek it out. |
16 人的礼物,为他开路,引他到高位的人面前。 A gift opens the way for the giver and ushers him into the presence of the great. |
17 先诉情由的,似乎有理。但邻舍来到,就察出实情。 The first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him. |
18 掣签能止息争竞,也能解散强胜的人。 Casting the lot settles disputes and keeps strong opponents apart. |
19 弟兄结怨,劝他和好,比取坚固城还难。这样的争竞,如同坚寨的门闩。 An offended brother is more unyielding than a fortified city, and disputes are like the barred gates of a citadel. |
20 人口中所结的果子,必充满肚腹。他嘴所出的,必使他饱足。 From the fruit of his mouth a man's stomach is filled; with the harvest from his lips he is satisfied. |
21 生死在舌头的权下。喜爱他的,必吃他所结的果子。 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. |
22 得着贤妻的,是得着好处,也是蒙了耶和华的恩惠。 He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD. |
23 贫穷人说哀求的话。富足人用威吓的话回答。 A poor man pleads for mercy, but a rich man answers harshly. |
24 滥交朋友的,自取败坏。但有一朋友,比弟兄更亲密。 A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. |
