When Samuel grew old, he appointed his sons as judges for Israel.

ÀåÀÚÀÇ À̸§Àº ¿ä¿¤ÀÌ¿ä Â÷ÀÚÀÇ À̸§Àº ¾Æºñ¾ß¶ó ±×µéÀÌ ºê¿¤¼¼¹Ù¿¡¼­ »ç»ç°¡ µÇ´Ï¶ó

The name of his firstborn was Joel and the name of his second was Abijah, and they served at Beersheba.

±× ¾ÆµéµéÀÌ ±× ¾ÆºñÀÇ ÇàÀ§¸¦ µû¸£Áö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ°í À̸¦ µû¶ó¼­ ³ú¹°À» ÃëÇÏ°í ÆÇ°áÀ» ±Á°Ô Çϴ϶ó

But his sons did not walk in his ways. They turned aside after dishonest gain and accepted bribes and perverted justice.

À̽º¶ó¿¤ ¸ðµç Àå·Î°¡ ¸ð¿© ¶ó¸¶¿¡ ÀÖ´Â »ç¹«¿¤¿¡°Ô ³ª¾Æ°¡¼­

So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah.

±×¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ º¸¼Ò¼­ ´ç½ÅÀº ´Ä°í ´ç½ÅÀÇ ¾ÆµéµéÀº ´ç½ÅÀÇ ÇàÀ§¸¦ µû¸£Áö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ´Ï ¿­¹æ°ú °°ÀÌ ¿ì¸®¿¡°Ô ¿ÕÀ» ¼¼¿ö ¿ì¸®¸¦ ´Ù½º¸®°Ô ÇϼҼ­ ÇÑÁö¶ó

They said to him, "You are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have."

¿ì¸®¿¡°Ô ¿ÕÀ» ÁÖ¾î ¿ì¸®¸¦ ´Ù½º¸®°Ô Ç϶ó ÇÑ ±×°ÍÀ» »ç¹«¿¤ÀÌ ±â»µÇÏÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿© ¿©È£¿Í²² ±âµµÇϸÅ

But when they said, "Give us a king to lead us," this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the LORD.

¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ »ç¹«¿¤¿¡°Ô À̸£½ÃµÇ ¹é¼ºÀÌ ³×°Ô ÇÑ ¸»À» ´Ù µéÀ¸¶ó ±×µéÀÌ ³Ê¸¦ ¹ö¸²ÀÌ ¾Æ´Ï¿ä ³ª¸¦ ¹ö·Á ÀÚ±âµéÀÇ ¿ÕÀÌ µÇÁö ¸øÇÏ°Ô ÇÔÀ̴϶ó

And the LORD told him: "Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king.

³»°¡ ±×µéÀ» ¾Ö±Á¿¡¼­ ÀεµÇÏ¿©³½ ³¯ºÎÅÍ ¿À´Ã³¯±îÁö ±×µéÀÌ ¸ðµç Çà»ç·Î ³ª¸¦ ¹ö¸®°í ´Ù¸¥ ½ÅµéÀ» ¼¶±è °°ÀÌ ³×°Ôµµ ±×¸®Çϴµµ´Ù

As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you.

±×·¯¹Ç·Î ±×µéÀÇ ¸»À» µèµÇ ³Ê´Â ±×µé¿¡°Ô ¾öÈ÷ °æ°èÇÏ°í ±×µéÀ» ´Ù½º¸± ¿ÕÀÇ Á¦µµ¸¦ ¾Ë°Ô Ç϶ó

Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will do."

»ç¹«¿¤ÀÌ ¿ÕÀ» ±¸ÇÏ´Â ¹é¼º¿¡°Ô ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ ¸ðµç ¸»¾¸À» ÀÏ·¯

Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who were asking him for a king.

°¡·ÎµÇ ³ÊÈñ¸¦ ´Ù½º¸± ¿ÕÀÇ Á¦µµ°¡ ÀÌ·¯Çϴ϶ó ±×°¡ ³ÊÈñ ¾ÆµéµéÀ» ÃëÇÏ¿© ±× º´°Å¿Í ¸»À» ¾î°ÅÄÉ Çϸ®´Ï ±×µéÀÌ ±× º´°Å ¾Õ¿¡¼­ ´Þ¸± °ÍÀ̸ç

He said, "This is what the king who will reign over you will do: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots.

±×°¡ ¶Ç ³ÊÈñ ¾Æµéµé·Î õºÎÀå°ú ¿À½ÊºÎÀåÀ» »ïÀ» °ÍÀ̸ç Àڱ⠹çÀ» °¥°Ô ÇÏ°í ÀÚ±â Ãß¼ö¸¦ ÇÏ°Ô ÇÒ °ÍÀ̸ç Àڱ⠺´°Å¿Í º´°ÅÀÇ Á¦±¸¸¦ ¸¸µé°Ô ÇÒ °ÍÀ̸ç

Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots.

He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers.

±×°¡ ¶Ç ³ÊÈñ ¹ç°ú Æ÷µµ¿ø°ú °¨¶÷¿øÀÇ Á¦ÀÏ ÁÁÀº °ÍÀ» ÃëÇÏ¿© Àڱ⠽ÅÇϵ鿡°Ô ÁÙ °ÍÀ̸ç

He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants.

±×°¡ ¶Ç ³ÊÈñ °î½Ä°ú Æ÷µµ¿ø ¼Ò»êÀÇ ½ÊÀÏÁ¶¸¦ ÃëÇÏ¿© Àڱ⠰ü¸®¿Í ½ÅÇÏ¿¡°Ô ÁÙ °ÍÀ̸ç

He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants.

±×°¡ ¶Ç ³ÊÈñ ³ëºñ¿Í °¡Àå ¾Æ¸§´Ù¿î ¼Ò³â°ú ³ª±ÍµéÀ» ÃëÇÏ¿© ÀÚ±â ÀÏÀ» ½Ãų °ÍÀ̸ç

Your menservants and maidservants and the best of your cattle and donkeys he will take for his own use.

³ÊÈñ ¾ç¶¼ÀÇ ½ÊºÐ ÀÏÀ» ÃëÇϸ®´Ï ³ÊÈñ°¡ ±× Á¾ÀÌ µÉ °ÍÀ̶ó

He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves.

±× ³¯¿¡ ³ÊÈñ°¡ ³ÊÈñ ÅÃÇÑ ¿ÕÀ» ÀÎÇÏ¿© ºÎ¸£Â¢µÇ ±× ³¯¿¡ ¾îÈ£¿Í²²¼­ ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô ÀÀ´äÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇϽø®¶ó

When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the LORD will not answer you in that day."

¹é¼ºÀÌ »ç¹«¿¤ÀÇ ¸» µè±â¸¦ °ÅÀýÇÏ¿© °¡·ÎµÇ ¾Æ´Ï·Î¼ÒÀÌ´Ù ¿ì¸®µµ ¿ì¸® ¿ÕÀÌ ÀÖ¾î¾ß Çϸ®´Ï

But the people refused to listen to Samuel. "No!" they said. "We want a king over us.

¿ì¸®µµ ¿­¹æ°ú °°ÀÌ µÇ¾î ¿ì¸® ¿ÕÀÌ ¿ì¸®¸¦ ´Ù½º¸®¸ç ¿ì¸® ¾Õ¿¡ ³ª°¡¼­ ¿ì¸®ÀÇ ½Î¿òÀ» ½Î¿ö¾ß ÇÒ °ÍÀÌ´ÏÀÌ´Ù

Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles."

»ç¹«¿¤ÀÌ ¹é¼ºÀÇ ¸ðµç ¸»À» µè°í ¿©È£¿Í²² °íÇϸÅ

When Samuel heard all that the people said, he repeated it before the LORD.

¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ »ç¹«¿¤¿¡°Ô À̸£½ÃµÇ ±×µéÀÇ ¸»À» µé¾î ¿ÕÀ» ¼¼¿ì¶ó ÇÏ½Ã´Ï »ç¹«¿¤ÀÌ À̽º¶ó¿¤ »ç¶÷µé¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ³ÊÈñ´Â °¢±â ¼ºÀ¾À¸·Î µ¹¾Æ°¡¶ó Çϴ϶ó

The LORD answered, "Listen to them and give them a king." Then Samuel said to the men of Israel, "Everyone go back to his town."
