Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, along with cedar logs, stonemasons and carpenters to build a palace for him. | |
| | 2 | 大衛就知道耶和華堅立他作以色列王、又為自己的民以色列、使他的國興旺。
And David knew that the LORD had established him as king over Israel and that his kingdom had been highly exalted for the sake of his people Israel. | |
| | 3 | 大衛在耶路撒冷又立后妃、又生兒女。
In Jerusalem David took more wives and became the father of more sons and daughters. | |
| | 4 | 在耶路撒冷所生的眾子、是沙母亞、朔罷、拿單、所羅門、
These are the names of the children born to him there: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, | |
| | 5 | 益轄、以利書亞、以法列、
Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, | |
| | 6 | 挪迦、尼斐、雅非亞、
Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, | |
| | 7 | 以利沙瑪、比利雅大、以利法列。
Elishama, Beeliada and Eliphelet. | |
| | 8 | 非利士人聽見大衛受膏作以色列眾人的王、非利士眾人就上來尋索大衛．大衛聽見、就出去迎敵。
When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, they went up in full force to search for him, but David heard about it and went out to meet them. | |
| | 9 | 非利士人來了、布散在利乏音谷。
Now the Philistines had come and raided the Valley of Rephaim; | |
| | 10 | 大衛求問 神、說、我可以上去攻打非利士人麼．你將他們交在我手裡麼。耶和華說、你可以上去．我必將他們交在你手裡。
so David inquired of God: "Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?" The LORD answered him, "Go, I will hand them over to you." | |
| | 11 | 非利士人來到巴力毘拉心、大衛在那裡殺敗他們．大衛說、 神藉我的手沖破敵人、如同水沖去一般。因此稱那地方為巴力毘拉心。
So David and his men went up to Baal Perazim, and there he defeated them. He said, "As waters break out, God has broken out against my enemies by my hand." So that place was called Baal Perazim. | |
| | 12 | 非利士人將神像撇在那裡．大衛吩咐人用火焚燒了。
The Philistines had abandoned their gods there, and David gave orders to burn them in the fire. | |
| | 13 | 非利士人又布散在利乏音谷。
Once more the Philistines raided the valley; | |
| | 14 | 大衛又求問 神． 神說、不要一直地上去．要轉到他們後頭、從桑林對面攻打他們。
so David inquired of God again, and God answered him, "Do not go straight up, but circle around them and attack them in front of the balsam trees. | |
| | 15 | 你聽見桑樹梢上有腳步的聲音、就要出戰．因為 神已經在你前頭去攻打非利士人的軍隊。
As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, move out to battle, because that will mean God has gone out in front of you to strike the Philistine army." | |
| | 16 | 大衛就遵著 神所吩咐的、攻打非利士人的軍隊、從基遍直到基色。
So David did as God commanded him, and they struck down the Philistine army, all the way from Gibeon to Gezer. | |
| | 17 | 於是大衛的名傳揚到列國．耶和華使列國都懼怕他。
So David's fame spread throughout every land, and the LORD made all the nations fear him. | |
