That night all the people of the community raised their voices and wept aloud.

À̽º¶ó¿¤ ÀÚ¼ÕÀÌ ´Ù ¸ð¼¼¿Í ¾Æ·ÐÀ» ¿ø¸ÁÇÏ¸ç ¿Â È¸ÁßÀÌ ±×µé¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ¿ì¸®°¡ ¾Ö±Á ¶¥¿¡¼­ Á×¾ú°Å³ª ÀÌ ±¤¾ß¿¡¼­ Á×¾ú´õ¸é ÁÁ¾ÒÀ» °ÍÀ»

All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, "If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this desert!

¾îÂîÇÏ¿© ¿©È£¿Í°¡ ¿ì¸®¸¦ ±× ¶¥À¸·Î ÀεµÇÏ¿© Ä®¿¡ ¸ÁÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ·Á ÇÏ´Â°í ¿ì¸® óÀÚ°¡ »ç·ÎÀâÈ÷¸®´Ï ¾Ö±ÁÀ¸·Î µ¹¾Æ°¡´Â °ÍÀÌ ³´Áö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ·ª

Why is the LORD bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn't it be better for us to go back to Egypt?"

ÀÌ¿¡ ¼­·Î ¸»Ç쵂 ¿ì¸®°¡ ÇÑ Àå°üÀ» ¼¼¿ì°í ¾Ö±ÁÀ¸·Î µ¹¾Æ°¡ÀÚ ÇϸÅ

And they said to each other, "We should choose a leader and go back to Egypt."

¸ð¼¼¿Í ¾Æ·ÐÀÌ À̽º¶ó¿¤ ÀÚ¼ÕÀÇ ¿Â ȸÁß ¾Õ¿¡¼­ ¾þµå¸°Áö¶ó

Then Moses and Aaron fell facedown in front of the whole Israelite assembly gathered there.

±× ¶¥À» ŽÁöÇÑ ÀÚ Áß ´«ÀÇ ¾Æµé ¿©È£¼ö¾Æ¿Í ¿©ºÐ³×ÀÇ ¾Æµé °¥·¾ÀÌ ±× ¿ÊÀ» Âõ°í

Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had explored the land, tore their clothes

À̽º¶ó¿¤ ÀÚ¼ÕÀÇ ¿Â ȸÁß¿¡ ÀÏ·¯ °¡·ÎµÇ ¿ì¸®°¡ µÎ·ç ´Ù´Ï¸ç ŽÁöÇÑ ¶¥Àº ½ÉÈ÷ ¾Æ¸§´Ù¿î ¶¥À̶ó

and said to the entire Israelite assembly, "The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good.

¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ ¿ì¸®¸¦ ±â»µÇÏ½Ã¸é ¿ì¸®¸¦ ±× ¶¥À¸·Î ÀεµÇÏ¿© µéÀÌ½Ã°í ±× ¶¥À» ¿ì¸®¿¡°Ô Áֽø®¶ó ÀÌ´Â °ú¿¬ Á¥°ú ²ÜÀÌ È帣´Â ¶¥À̴϶ó

If the LORD is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us.

¿ÀÁ÷ ¿©È£¿Í¸¦ °Å¿ªÇÏÁö ¸»¶ó ¶Ç ±× ¶¥ ¹é¼ºÀ» µÎ·Á¿öÇÏÁö ¸»¶ó ±×µéÀº ¿ì¸® ¹äÀ̶ó ±×µéÀÇ º¸È£ÀÚ´Â ±×µé¿¡°Ô¼­ ¶°³µ°í ¿©È£¿Í´Â ¿ì¸®¿Í ÇÔ²² ÇϽôÀ´Ï¶ó ±×µéÀ» µÎ·Á¿ö ¸»¶ó Çϳª

Only do not rebel against the LORD. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will swallow them up. Their protection is gone, but the LORD is with us. Do not be afraid of them."

¿Â ȸÁßÀÌ ±×µéÀ» µ¹·Î Ä¡·ÁÇÏ´Â µ¿½Ã¿¡ ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ ¿µ±¤ÀÌ È¸¸·¿¡¼­ À̽º¶ó¿¤ ¸ðµç ÀÚ¼Õ¿¡°Ô ³ªÅ¸³ª½Ã´Ï¶ó

But the whole assembly talked about stoning them. Then the glory of the LORD appeared at the Tent of Meeting to all the Israelites.

¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ ¸ð¼¼¿¡°Ô À̸£½ÃµÇ ÀÌ ¹é¼ºÀÌ ¾î´À ¶§±îÁö ³ª¸¦ ¸ê½ÃÇÏ°Ú´À³Ä ³»°¡ ±×µé Áß¿¡ ¸ðµç ÀÌÀûÀ» ÇàÇÑ °Íµµ »ý°¢ÇÏÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ°í ¾î´À ¶§±îÁö ³ª¸¦ ¹ÏÁö ¾Ê°Ú´À³Ä

The LORD said to Moses, "How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the miraculous signs I have performed among them?

³»°¡ Àü¿°º´À¸·Î ±×µéÀ» Ãļ­ ¸êÇÏ°í ³Ê·Î ±×µéº¸´Ù Å©°í °­ÇÑ ³ª¶ó¸¦ ÀÌ·ç°Ô Çϸ®¶ó

I will strike them down with a plague and destroy them, but I will make you into a nation greater and stronger than they."

¸ð¼¼°¡ ¿©È£¿Í²² ¿©Â¥¿ÀµÇ ¾Ö±ÁÀÎ Áß¿¡¼­ ÁÖÀÇ ´É·ÂÀ¸·Î ÀÌ ¹é¼ºÀ» ÀεµÇÏ¿© ³»¼Ì°Å´Ã ±×¸®ÇÏ½Ã¸é ±×µéÀÌ µè°í

Moses said to the LORD, "Then the Egyptians will hear about it! By your power you brought these people up from among them.

ÀÌ ¶¥ °Å¹Î¿¡°Ô °íÇϸ®ÀÌ´Ù ÁÖ ¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ ÀÌ ¹é¼º Áß¿¡ °è½ÉÀ» ±×µéµµ µé¾úÀ¸´Ï °ð ÁÖ ¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ ´ë¸éÇÏ¿© º¸À̽øç ÁÖÀÇ ±¸¸§ÀÌ ±×µé À§¿¡ ¼¹À¸¸ç ÁÖ²²¼­ ³·¿¡´Â ±¸¸§±âµÕ °¡¿îµ¥¼­ ¹ã¿¡´Â ºÒ±âµÕ °¡¿îµ¥¼­ ±×µé ¾Õ¿¡¼­ ÇàÇϽô °ÍÀÌ´ÏÀÌ´Ù

And they will tell the inhabitants of this land about it. They have already heard that you, O LORD, are with these people and that you, O LORD, have been seen face to face, that your cloud stays over them, and that you go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.

ÀÌÁ¦ ÁÖ²²¼­ ÀÌ ¹é¼ºÀ» ÇÑ »ç¶÷ °°ÀÌ Á×À̽øé ÁÖÀÇ ¸í¼ºÀ» µéÀº ¿­±¹ÀÌ ¸»ÇÏ¿© À̸£±â¸¦

If you put these people to death all at one time, the nations who have heard this report about you will say,

¿©È£¿Í°¡ ÀÌ ¹é¼º¿¡°Ô ÁÖ±â·Î ¸Í¼¼ÇÑ ¶¥¿¡ ÀεµÇÒ ´ÉÀÌ ¾ø´Â °í·Î ±¤¾ß¿¡¼­ Á׿´´Ù Çϸ®ÀÌ´Ù

'The LORD was not able to bring these people into the land he promised them on oath; so he slaughtered them in the desert.'

ÀÌÁ¦ ±¸ÇϿɳª´Ï ÀÌ¹Ì ¸»¾¸ÇϽŠ´ë·Î ÁÖÀÇ Å« ±Ç´ÉÀ» ³ªÅ¸³»¿É¼Ò¼­ À̸£½Ã±â¸¦

"Now may the Lord's strength be displayed, just as you have declared:

¿©È£¿Í´Â ³ëÇϱ⸦ ´õµðÇÏ°í ÀÎÀÚ°¡ ¸¹¾Æ Á˾ǰú °ú½ÇÀ» »çÇϳª Çü¹ú ¹ÞÀ» ÀÚ´Â °á´ÜÄÚ »çÇÏÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ°í ¾ÆºñÀÇ Á˾ÇÀ» ÀڽĿ¡°Ô °±¾Æ »ï»ç´ë±îÁö À̸£°Ô Çϸ®¶ó Çϼ̳ªÀÌ´Ù

'The LORD is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation.'

±¸ÇϿɳª´Ï ÁÖÀÇ ÀÎÀÚÀÇ ±¤´ëÇϽÉÀ» µû¶ó ÀÌ ¹é¼ºÀÇ Á˾ÇÀ» »çÇÏ½ÃµÇ ¾Ö±Á¿¡¼­ºÎÅÍ Áö±Ý±îÁö ÀÌ ¹é¼ºÀ» »çÇϽŠ°Í °°ÀÌ »çÇϿɼҼ­

In accordance with your great love, forgive the sin of these people, just as you have pardoned them from the time they left Egypt until now."

¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ °¡¶ó»ç´ë ³»°¡ ³× ¸»´ë·Î »çÇϳë¶ó

The LORD replied, "I have forgiven them, as you asked.

±×·¯³ª Áø½Ç·Î ³ªÀÇ »ç´Â °Í°ú ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ ¿µ±¤ÀÌ ¿Â ¼¼°è¿¡ Ã游ÇÒ °ÍÀ¸·Î ¸Í¼¼Çϳë´Ï

Nevertheless, as surely as I live and as surely as the glory of the LORD fills the whole earth,

³ªÀÇ ¿µ±¤°ú ¾Ö±Á°ú ±¤¾ß¿¡¼­ ÇàÇÑ ³ªÀÇ ÀÌÀûÀ» º¸°íµµ ÀÌ°°ÀÌ ¿­ ¹øÀ̳ª ³ª¸¦ ½ÃÇèÇÏ°í ³» ¸ñ¼Ò¸®¸¦ ûÁ¾Ä¡ ¾Æ´ÏÇÑ ±× »ç¶÷µéÀº

not one of the men who saw my glory and the miraculous signs I performed in Egypt and in the desert but who disobeyed me and tested me ten times--

³»°¡ ±× Á¶»óµé¿¡°Ô ¸Í¼¼ÇÑ ¶¥À» °á´ÜÄÚ º¸Áö ¸øÇÒ °ÍÀÌ¿ä ¶Ç ³ª¸¦ ¸ê½ÃÇÏ´Â »ç¶÷Àº Çϳª¶óµµ ±×°ÍÀ» º¸Áö ¸øÇϸ®¶ó

not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their forefathers. No one who has treated me with contempt will ever see it.

¿ÀÁ÷ ³» Á¾ °¥·¾Àº ±× ¸¶À½ÀÌ ±×µé°ú ´Þ¶ó¼­ ³ª¸¦ ¿ÂÀüÈ÷ ÁÀ¾ÒÀºÁï ±×ÀÇ °¬´ø ¶¥À¸·Î ³»°¡ ±×¸¦ ÀεµÇÏ¿© µéÀ̸®´Ï ±× ÀÚ¼ÕÀÌ ±× ¶¥À» Â÷ÁöÇϸ®¶ó

But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it.

¾Æ¸»·ºÀΰú °¡³ª¾ÈÀÎÀÌ °ñÂ¥±â¿¡ °ÅÇϳª´Ï ³ÊÈñ´Â ³»ÀÏ µ¹ÀÌÄÑ È«ÇØ ±æ·Î ÇÏ¿© ±¤¾ß·Î µé¾î°¥Áö´Ï¶ó

Since the Amalekites and Canaanites are living in the valleys, turn back tomorrow and set out toward the desert along the route to the Red Sea."

¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ ¸ð¼¼¿Í ¾Æ·Ð¿¡°Ô ÀÏ·¯ °¡¶ó»ç´ë

The LORD said to Moses and Aaron:

³ª¸¦ ¿ø¸ÁÇÏ´Â ÀÌ ¾ÇÇÑ È¸ÁßÀ» ³»°¡ ¾î´À ¶§±îÁö ÂüÀ¸·ª À̽º¶ó¿¤ ÀÚ¼ÕÀÌ ³ª¸¦ ÇâÇÏ¿© ¿ø¸ÁÇϴ¹٠±× ¿ø¸ÁÇÏ´Â ¸»À» ³»°¡ µé¾ú³ë¶ó

"How long will this wicked community grumble against me? I have heard the complaints of these grumbling Israelites.

±×µé¿¡°Ô À̸£±â¸¦ ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ ¸»¾¸¿¡ ³ªÀÇ »îÀ» °¡¸®ÄÑ ¸Í¼¼Çϳë¶ó ³ÊÈñ ¸»ÀÌ ³» ±Í¿¡ µé¸° ´ë·Î ³»°¡ ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô ÇàÇϸ®´Ï

So tell them, 'As surely as I live, declares the LORD, I will do to you the very things I heard you say:

³ÊÈñ ½Ãü°¡ ÀÌ ±¤¾ß¿¡ ¾þµå·¯Áú °ÍÀ̶ó ³ÊÈñ ÀÌ½Ê ¼¼ ÀÌ»óÀ¸·Î °Ô¼öÇÔÀ» ¹ÞÀº ÀÚ °ð ³ª¸¦ ¿ø¸ÁÇÑ ÀÚÀÇ ÀüºÎ°¡

In this desert your bodies will fall--every one of you twenty years old or more who was counted in the census and who has grumbled against me.

¿©ºÐ³×ÀÇ ¾Æµé °¥·¾°ú ´«ÀÇ ¾Æµé ¿©È£¼ö¾Æ ¿Ü¿¡´Â ³»°¡ ¸Í¼¼ÇÏ¿© ³ÊÈñ·Î °ÅÇÏ°Ô Çϸ®¶ó ÇÑ ¶¥¿¡ °á´ÜÄÚ µé¾î°¡Áö ¸øÇϸ®¶ó

Not one of you will enter the land I swore with uplifted hand to make your home, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

³ÊÈñ°¡ »ç·ÎÀâÈ÷°Ú´Ù°í ¸»ÇÏ´ø ³ÊÈñÀÇ À¯¾ÆµéÀº ³»°¡ ÀεµÇÏ¿© µéÀ̸®´Ï ±×µéÀº ³ÊÈñ°¡ ½È¾îÇÏ´ø ¶¥À» º¸·Á´Ï¿Í

As for your children that you said would be taken as plunder, I will bring them in to enjoy the land you have rejected.

³ÊÈñ ½Ãü´Â ÀÌ ±¤¾ß¿¡ ¾þµå·¯Áú °ÍÀÌ¿ä

But you--your bodies will fall in this desert.

³ÊÈñ ÀÚ³àµéÀº ³ÊÈñÀÇ ÆпªÇÑ Á˸¦ Áö°í ³ÊÈñÀÇ ½Ãü°¡ ±¤¾ß¿¡¼­ ¼Ò¸êµÇ±â±îÁö »ç½Ê ³âÀ» ±¤¾ß¿¡¼­ À¯¸®ÇÏ´Â ÀÚ°¡ µÇ¸®¶ó

Your children will be shepherds here for forty years, suffering for your unfaithfulness, until the last of your bodies lies in the desert.

³ÊÈñ°¡ ±× ¶¥À» ŽÁöÇÑ ³¯ ¼ö »ç½Ê ÀÏÀÇ ÇϷ縦 ÀϳâÀ¸·Î ȯ»êÇÏ¿© ±× »ç½Ê ³â°£ ³ÊÈñ°¡ ³ÊÈñÀÇ Á˾ÇÀ» ÁúÁö´Ï ³ÊÈñ°¡ ³ªÀÇ ½È¾î ¹ö¸²À» ¾Ë¸®¶ó Çϼ̴٠Ç϶ó

For forty years--one year for each of the forty days you explored the land--you will suffer for your sins and know what it is like to have me against you.'

³ª ¿©È£¿Í°¡ ¸»ÇÏ¿´°Å´Ï¿Í ¸ð¿© ³ª¸¦ °Å¿ªÇÏ´Â ÀÌ ¾ÇÇÑ ¿Â ȸÁß¿¡°Ô ³»°¡ ´ÜÁ¤ÄÚ ÀÌ°°ÀÌ ÇàÇϸ®´Ï ±×µéÀÌ ÀÌ ±¤¾ß¿¡¼­ ¼Ò¸êµÇ¾î °Å±â¼­ Á×À¸¸®¶ó

I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will surely do these things to this whole wicked community, which has banded together against me. They will meet their end in this desert; here they will die."

¸ð¼¼ÀÇ º¸³¿À» ¹Þ°í ¶¥À» ŽÁöÇÏ°í µ¹¾Æ¿Í¼­ ±× ¶¥À» ¾ÇÆòÇÏ¿© ¿Â ȸÁßÀ¸·Î ¸ð¼¼¸¦ ¿ø¸ÁÄÉ ÇÑ »ç¶÷

So the men Moses had sent to explore the land, who returned and made the whole community grumble against him by spreading a bad report about it--

°ð ±× ¶¥¿¡ ´ëÇÏ¿© ¾ÇÆòÇÑ ÀÚµéÀº ¿©È£¿Í ¾Õ¿¡¼­ Àç¾ÓÀ¸·Î Á×¾ú°í

these men responsible for spreading the bad report about the land were struck down and died of a plague before the LORD.

±× ¶¥À» ŽÁöÇÏ·¯ °¬´ø »ç¶÷µé Áß¿¡ ¿ÀÁ÷ ´«ÀÇ ¾Æµé ¿©È£¼ö¾Æ¿Í ¿©ºÐ³×ÀÇ ¾Æµé °¥·¾Àº »ýÁ¸Çϴ϶ó

Of the men who went to explore the land, only Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh survived.

¸ð¼¼°¡ ÀÌ ¸»·Î À̽º¶ó¿¤ ¸ðµç ÀÚ¼Õ¿¡°Ô °íÇϸŠ¹é¼ºÀÌ Å©°Ô ½½ÆÛÇÏ¿©

When Moses reported this to all the Israelites, they mourned bitterly.

¾Æħ¿¡ ÀÏÂïÀÌ ÀϾ »ê²À´ë±â·Î ¿Ã¶ó°¡¸ç °¡·ÎµÇ º¸¼Ò¼­ ¿ì¸®°¡ ¿©±â ÀÖ³ªÀÌ´Ù ¿ì¸®°¡ ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ Çã¶ôÇϽŠ°÷À¸·Î ¿Ã¶ó °¡¸®´Ï ¿ì¸®°¡ ¹üÁËÇÏ¿´À½ÀÌ´ÏÀÌ´Ù

Early the next morning they went up toward the high hill country. "We have sinned," they said. "We will go up to the place the LORD promised."

¸ð¼¼°¡ °¡·ÎµÇ ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¾îÂîÇÏ¿© ÀÌÁ¦ ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ ¸í·ÉÀ» ¹üÇÏ´À³Ä ÀÌ ÀÏÀÌ ÇüÅëÄ¡ ¸øÇϸ®¶ó

But Moses said, "Why are you disobeying the LORD'S command? This will not succeed!

¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ ³ÊÈñ Áß¿¡ °è½ÃÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ´Ï ¿Ã¶ó°¡Áö ¸»¶ó ³ÊÈñ ´ëÀû ¾Õ¿¡¼­ ÆÐÇÒ±î Çϳë¶ó

Do not go up, because the LORD is not with you. You will be defeated by your enemies,

¾Æ¸»·ºÀΰú °¡³ª¾ÈÀÎÀÌ ³ÊÈñ ¾Õ¿¡ ÀÖÀ¸´Ï ³ÊÈñ°¡ ±× Ä®¿¡ ¸ÁÇϸ®¶ó ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¿©È£¿Í¸¦ ¹è¹ÝÇÏ¿´À¸´Ï ¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ ³ÊÈñ¿Í ÇÔ²² ÇÏÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇϽø®¶ó Çϳª

for the Amalekites and Canaanites will face you there. Because you have turned away from the LORD, he will not be with you and you will fall by the sword."

±×µéÀÌ ±×·¡µµ »ê²À´ë±â·Î ¿Ã¶ó°¬°í ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ ¾ð¾à±Ë¿Í ¸ð¼¼´Â ÁøÀ» ¶°³ªÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿´´õ¶ó

Nevertheless, in their presumption they went up toward the high hill country, though neither Moses nor the ark of the LORD'S covenant moved from the camp.

¾Æ¸»·ºÀΰú »êÁö¿¡ °ÅÇÏ´Â °¡³ª¾ÈÀÎÀÌ ³»·Á¿Í Ãļ­ ÆÄÇÏ°í È£¸£¸¶±îÁö À̸£·¶´õ¶ó

Then the Amalekites and Canaanites who lived in that hill country came down and attacked them and beat them down all the way to Hormah.
